Very new features

This is a list of features that will be added in the release of V2.2 released 14th June 2018. You should see a note the first time you log in after a new feature has been added.

Enhanced Events

An event is triggered if the expected generation of a group is greater than or equal to 5 and the preceding predispatch settlementdate is less than 5. Solar and wind farms are excluded.

Current events are highlighted (compared to past events). Events are ordered by publication date (predispatch runtime). An event can be current even though it was published some time ago. Hence current events can be listed below past events. An event remains current if no material change has occurred compared to the latest rundatetime. A change is defined as material if the maximum generation has changed by more than 10MW and/or either the start or end date has changed. In this instance the new event is published as current and the old event becomes grey and is now a past event.

Events are removed from the list permanently if the start time is later than the latest rundatetime or if the event is more than 20 hours old.

Only visible groups from selected regions can trigger an event.

Past events can be collapsed by region by clicking the collapse icon next to the region label.

Select any generation group in the event list to go to the graph.

Cross Hairs

Click on a cell to highlight the column and row.

Click anywhere on the table to remove the highlight. This is particularly handy using “all intervals” since it gives a frame of reference in the table. The datetime and group is preserved even after a new rundatetime is published.

What is DAEG data?

DAEG data are derived from decomposing predispatch, p5min data and other standing data. DAEG data provide the finest resolution view of expected generation profiles in the predispatch and p5min timeframe. DAEG data are not forecasts nor simulations rather the information is consistent with the forecasts published by AEMO and hence are part of the underlying basis from which other predispatch and p5min data are derived, such as price forecasts and region generation. Our data are updated between 2 and 4 minutes after every predispatch and p5min run.

What if I'm having problems with a new version?

Your web browser may be too old. This is a list of supported web browsers.

With the exception of Microsoft web browsers, all other web browsers can be upgraded at any time for free so if DAEG is not working, try googling and installing the latest version of your preferred web browser (or ask your IT people to do it). Unfortunately Internet Explorer is not easily upgraded.

Why we don't support Internet Explorer 10 or earlier.

Internet Explorer 10 was released in 2012. It is an old web browser. DAEG works fine on IE 11 or Microsoft Edge (which is Internet Explorer rebranded) however you cannot easily upgrade to this web browser which is why old versions of Internet Explorer persist.

I like the old version, can I still access version 1.

For a while you could but not anymore. V1 was retired on the 1st April 2018.

Any new version is tested on a variety of screen resolutions, web browsers and devices including mobile devices. However we do not support old web browsers (internet explorer is often many years old) and we like to use relatively new technology (i.e. code). Smart phones and tablets can be a problem since older ones will not let you upgrade operating systems past a certain version.

What if data doesn't seem to be updating?

Sometimes there is a gurgle in the network or a cache hiccup ... hold down the "ctrl" key and click the "refresh" on the web browser. This will clear most issues.

Very occasionally there is an issue at our end and we have a bunch of diagnostics that will restart systems and tell us if any part of the system is not behaving normally. If there is a delay, rest assured we are working on it - most of the time the data is updated before the next predispatch interval.

What if generation groups change?

Generation groups change from time to time depending on constraint formulations and invoked constraint sets (due to transmission outages) as well as new constraints being added and old constraints being removed. Our algorithms are generic and this is normal and part of the process.

How do I create a new account?

Step-by-step guide

Once you are on the login screen, follow the steps below:

On login page, click on Sign Up link
You will be presented with screen below
Fill in your email address and password.
Click on SIGN UP button.
You will receive an email with activation link. Click on it to confirm your email address.

Navigation logic.

Clickable objects and icons in DAEG change colour when hovered over. Green icons or cells are active and inactive icons are grey.

The layout of DAEG is hierarchical. Timestamps are on the top row as well as general navigation options such as help. The second row allows one or more regions to be toggled as well as the time frame (p5min and/or predispatch) and the view type (summary view and/or data from all time intervals). The third layer is specific to the arrangement of the data such as grouping by fuel type. In the main body of data individual generation groups and region data may be hidden so that only the objects of interest are visible.

What are the functions in Home (Table) View and Graph View?

DAEG is designed so you only look at the data you want to. Hence you can select any number of regions and you can hide any number of generation groups or region values. You can select both or either the p5min or predispatch data as well as look at all of the data or just summary data and sparklines.
