Switching Submit Mode OFF
When to Switch Submit Mode OFF
Energy Bids
If you are likely to submit multiple AEMO or Financial ('A' or 'F') category rebids in the next five minutes or so then switch Submit Mode to OFF.
If you leave submit mode ON then each new manual bid will become a Reference Bid. And if the previous Algo Bid has already moved volume (for example by an amount of TdelLV) and then you synchronise (from a third party bidding system), edit and submit this bid, then the Algorithm will consume the new manual bid as a Reference Bid and hence will be able to move another TdelLV from the starting point of the new Reference Bid. Although this Bid will be optimal (as far as the Solver is concerned) the Spot Trader may not wish to move what might be a larger than expected volume from the original (earlier) manual bid. Also the Algorithm will not be able to restore the Algo Bid to the structure of the earlier manual bid if the optimal solution reverses because the Algo is constrained by the Latest Manual Acknowledged Bid and the TdelLV.
FCAS Bids
If you are likely to submit an AEMO or Financial ('A' or 'F') category rebid then you should switch submit mode to OFF. (The one exception might be if you rebid volume in the late rebidding period.)
If you leave submit mode ON then the band volumes of the Algo Bid will be formulated from scratch and hence the Algo Bid will overwrite the content of your previous manual bid. The only exception is if pdBidr is set to not reformulate bids in the late rebidding dispatch intervals in which case you could leave Submit Mode ON if you are only making changes to the late rebid period.
How to Switch Submit Mode OFF
If you decide to switch Submit Mode OFF then do so prior to submitting a manual rebid. Then either
Allow ten seconds between Switching Submit Mode OFF and submitting a manual bid, or
In the Bids Page check that the column Algo Last Submission/Submission Status has a 5/5 status (or wait a few seconds until it does).
It can take up to ten seconds to process and acknowledge a bid from the time it is submitted. pdBidr monitors this process and shows the status of an Algo bid in the Submission Status. If an Algo bid is submitted just before you switch Submit Mode OFF then the submission status will monitor the process and there may be a moment where Submission status is not 5/5. If it is not 5/5 then wait a few moments until it is 5/5 (see image below). Then you may submit manual rebids.
If you submit a manual bid less than 90 seconds prior to switching Submit Mode OFF then monitor the Active Acknowledged Bid and ensure that it is either,
your manual bid, or
an Algo Bid that is composed of your manual bid. If it is an Algo Bid but it is not composed of your recent manual bid (or if you are in any doubt) resubmit your manual bid. For example:
You submitted a change to maxavail, then 20 seconds later switched Submit Mode to OFF.
The Active Acknowledged Bid is an Algo Bid.
The AEMO Offer Timestamp is after your manual bid was submitted.
Open the Active Acknowledged Bid and check that the changes you made to maxavail in your manual bid are present in the Algo Bid. If not, resubmit your manual bid.
When to switch Submit Mode ON
If you are not actively rebidding priceband volume, or if you don’t expect to actively rebid priceband volume in the next half hour, then Switch Submit Mode ON.
How to Switch Submit Mode ON
You may switch Submit Mode ON at any time.
However if you switch Submit Mode ON and then change your mind and switch Submit Mode OFF then you must follow the above process for How to Switch Submit Mode OFF.
