This page describes the purpose, design approach, functions and workflow of vOffer.
Purpose
vOffer is the user interface of an automated system which controls and monitors bids created by vAdvisor
...
and manages and processes bids edited by users and submitted to AEMO.
The Important Things
There are a few very important things to remember when using vOffer:
vOffer stores and manages all bids as two independent components, Physical and Financial. Hence when using vOffer either the Physical or Financial component will be selected. Even when submitting a bid you will only be able to submit either the Physical or Financial component. In this event, vOffer will combine the bid you are submitting with the last submitted “other half”. For example if you submit a draft Financial bid, vOffer will combine it with the last submitted Physical bid.
Pricebands and volumes define a Financial bid. All other parameters in a bid are defined as Physical.
vOffer processes are strictly downstream from vAdvisor. This means that vAdvisor will never consume data from vOffer.
You should never need to edit a Physical bid because the physical characteristics should be entered in the Parameters database. The Parameters database is upstream from vAdvisor therefore vAdvisor will consume the data entered into the Parameters database and convert the information into a bid which will be automatically collected and submitted by vOffer.
However you may manually edit and submit either a Physical or Financial bid from vOffer but you must switch OFF “Auto Submit”. Note that “Auto Submit” activates/deactivates for Financial and Physical components of a bid independently. Therefore Auto Submit can be OFF for the Financial component but ON for the Physical component. In this instance vOffer will collect the latest Physical bid from vAdvisor and combine it with the last Submitted bid.
Anytime you open or return to a page the date will restore to today and the bid component will restore to Financial.

Design Approach
The user interface of vOffer is designed to be
...
intuitive so that occasional users can navigate the system and perform tasks
...
effectively. As an automated system
...
it is likely that users will rarely, if at all, need to
...
intervene in the automated process. However in the event that vAdvisor fails or that traders wish to override vAdvisor bids it is essential that the user can
...
interact with vOffer without having to navigate an overly complex user interface.

Functions
vOffer functions include the following:
Switching ON or OFF automatically collecting bids from vAdvisor and submitting to AEMO.
Inspecting vAdvisor bids.
Inspecting submitted bid sets.
Inspecting current acknowledged bids.
Creating manual (draft) bids from bid templates or default bids.
Editing and submitting manual (draft) bids.
Creating and editing bid templates.
Submitting bids directly from a bid template.
Using default bids or pre-configured template bid sets.
These functions are performed using the various “pages” of vOffer that are selected from the left hand navigation bar (shown in the adjacent image).
